The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop gambling. There are no dues or fees for Gamblers Anonymous membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions.

In order to lead normal, happy lives we try to practice to the best of our ability certain principles in our daily affairs. The first positive step is to attend your first meeting. The lasting benefits come by attending regular meetings.

New to Gamblers Anonymous?

Gambling, for the compulsive gambler is defined as follows: Any betting or wagering, for self or others, whether for money or not, no matter how slight or insignificant, where the outcome is uncertain or depends upon chance or skill constitutes gambling.
At your first meeting let someone know that you are attending for the first time. They will tell you how long the meeting goes for and what happens. You will be invited to be part of the meeting. They will tell you to look for the similarities, not the differences. There is no pressure to share your experience but, when asked, you can speak if you wish.
Perhaps, however insofar as stopping gambling many Gamblers Anonymous members have abstained from gambling without the benefit of the knowledge of why they gambled.
Attend as many meetings as possible per week, meetings make it.
